Children can attend Beavers between the ages of 6 and 8 years - before they move on to Cubs. We have two thriving Beaver sections which work together and run the same programme:
Venus Beavers meet on Tuesdays, 17:30 - 18:30
Contact venus@1stwendoverscouts.co.uk
Gemini Beavers meet on Thursdays, 17:30 - 18:30
Contact gemini@1stwendoverscouts.co.uk
We have included some information that applies across both of our Beaver sections below.
We are an active group with a varied programme that includes:
Craft activities to create things and develop our skills and knowledge
Outdoor activities such as canoeing, hiking, firelighting and camp cooking
Visits and tours to learn about where we live
Sleepovers, indoors and in tents, learning to be independent
Playing games and making new friends
The most important thing is that we have fun!
Caroline (Kingfisher) enjoys hiking and trail running. She’s a Nights Away Permit holder and likes all of the unusual sleepover locations that Beavers have managed to achieve over the years.
Glenn (Red Kite) is...
Sarah (Heron)...
Phil (Hawk) is a keen camper, hiker and skier. He is happiest when outside lighting fires or sleeping in his hammock. Christmas Crafts brings him out in cold sweats. He is one of our Nights Away Permit holders, and is the Group Quartermaster.
Mandy (Firecrest)...
A combination of team work and parent support is how we have successfully done so much with the Beavers.
We are always looking for helpers. You don't need to any formal qualifications - just some enthusiasm and encouragement!
Beavers wear a distinctive blue polo shirt and sweatshirt. Like the rest of 1st Wendover we have a yellow and brown neck scarf (necker) and we have lots of badges.
Some of the badges link us to 1st Wendover and the Scouts generally whilst others we are awarded as we complete activities, adventures, challenges and to show our commitment.
The picture shows you where the different badges are located on our uniform.
As a parent you can find out more about badges and how to get them by visiting Beaver Badges
